All about gray parrotts

The grey parrot, also known as the Congo grey parrot, Congo African grey parrot or African grey parrot, is an Old World parrot in the family
"Psittaciformes."

African grey parrots exhibit stunning beauty and majesty in their natural habitat. Renowned for their captivating allure, these birds have garnered significant popularity as pets in Europe, the USA, and the Middle East. Their appeal as attractive companions is attributed to their impressive longevity, remarkable ability to mimic human speech, and overall high intelligence.

Originating from West and Central Africa, African grey parrots thrive in diverse habitats, encompassing lowland forests such as rainforests, woodlands, and wooded savannahs. Their presence is not limited to the depths of the forest; these parrots can also be observed along the peripheries and in clearings. Additionally, they may venture into gardens and cultivated fields while foraging for sustenance.

A well-balanced avian diet is best achieved by making pellets the primary source of nutrition, constituting around 75-80% of your bird's daily intake. To complement this, the remaining portion of the diet should include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, with minimal inclusion of seeds, if any. Providing this diversified diet ensures your bird receives essential nutrients for optimal health and well-being

In captivity, grey parrots can thrive for an extended period, with a potential lifespan ranging from 40 to 60 years, while their average lifespan in their natural habitat is comparatively shorter at around 23 years. These intelligent birds typically commence breeding between 3 to 5 years of age, producing 3 to 5 eggs per brood during their reproductive cycles
