   History of Silkie Chicken :

        The Chinese Silkie Chicken, also known as the Chinese Silk Chicken, is a breed of chicken originating from Southeast Asia. Originating in China in the 6th century, they were believed to have been given as a gift to the Chinese Imperial court by Kublai Khan in 1299. These unique chickens are characterized by their fluffy plumage, black skin and bones, and five toes on each foot instead of the usual four. They were prized for their medicinal properties and remained especially popular amongst the Chinese for centuries. Though the modern Silkie has been bred for show and meat, it is still valued for its historic associations in the Far East.

   Origin of Silkie Chicken :

  The appearance of Silkie Chicken:

     Silkies will lay around 3 eggs per week, with some Silkies not laying at all over summer. Their eggs are small to medium in size and cream or white.

A standard silkie chicken will generally live between 7-9 years, however, this all depends on the care given to them.
